18 months of Discovery

For all of the newcomers, there is hope for the future as long as you are willing to work a program and incorporate into you life. Today marks 18 months of continued sobriety for this 58 year young grandfather.

This is what I have found thus far in what has become my life long journey:

1) I am, I was and I will always be an alcoholic.

2) I have achieved this length of sobriety because I listened to those who have gone before.

3) It took a while, but I developed and incorporated a recovery program that is not only part of my life but part of my being.. Each and everyday I am pro-active in my program. It might be a meeting, just remembering where I was for all too long, or simply a walk in the forest or at the beach and take in all of the beauty of nature.

4) That I am not alone in this journey and have met some of the most caring and wonderful people.

5) That life, with all of its ups and downs is so worth living in a sober mind and spirit as compared to just breathing and taking up valuable space on this planet.

So the bottom line is: WORK IT because YOU ARE WORTH IT.

You all have a great and wonderful day, because I will.
