In your past is probably addiction I would guess
Mine was inherited from many others in past days
It's what I was born with, a gene or other illness
I feel so fortunate for recovery
And wish you the best as you begin to trudge the road
Of a happiness you can't believe could be yours we're told
I sometimes can't believe how I got here from there
Such dark days and sadness I thought couldn't bear
And all I had to do was stay put in my chair
Really took all the words in with the beginnings of hope
I could be sober a no longer a drunk, sometimes a dope
It's because I finally listened and took it all in.
