helps or
hurts the sobriety process. Or is it to each their own? I understand that a lot of non-alcoholic beer has less than 1% of alcohol in it.... but does having one count as having a real drink? My addictions counselor who I am starting to not be a fan of (for many reasons other than this), told me that I absolutely need to stay away from non-alcoholic beer because it promotes the wrong type of "behavior" and she thinks that it will be detrimental to my recovery. Then, in the same breath she tells me I can have a virgin pina colada or cocktail as a 'treat' to myself. Isn't it the exact same thing? If I pour juice in my wine glass and sit with other people who are actually drinking wine, aren't I exhibiting social drinking behavior?
Given that I only drank to get drunk I never understood the appeal of nonalcoholic beer.
But that's me.
Is it a bad idea? well its certainly something I'd think carefully about.
