I have always tried to make up for my lousy Christmas and discovered even when my gifts were perfect it wasn't enough for me. My husband and sons went out one year and got everything on my list plus something extra. I oddly had zero feelings about it.
For me my greatest joy is giving gifts and I am going to stick with that. No more expectations or anything.
