If I may, I suggest you start listening instead of hearing.
I am not saying that people don't say those things, they do, I do, but in that story is also what I have done to relieve myself of those things and how my life is today. What steps we take to stop drinking, relieve the obsession and live an alcohol free life today.
If you are only hearing the problem and not the solution I would try different meetings or listen with new ears. It is there if you listen for it.
