I tend to like a lot of doom and black metal, though I listen to a little of everything.
When I first started to realize I had a real problem with drinking two and a half years ago, I discovered Chelsea Wolfe. Her dark and sorrowful approach to electronica and folk (just trust me) really hit home and I spent many a night crying for many things: love, respect, my childhood, comfort, and a reprieve from an illness I thought was going to kill me.
All of her songs are hauntingly beautiful, but I've found her acoustic album especially powerful. Here's a track:
