A nice, sober 21st birthday in New York

So a few days ago was my 21st birthday which I spent in the big apple with my family and a few friends. Although it was a lovely time, I'm relieved in many ways that it's over as I'd built it up for so many weeks beforehand in my head, wondering if I'd feel that all too familiar craving and cave in but instead it was very enjoyable. No pressure from anyone to raise a glass. Just love and good will from everyone present.

I think we, as alcoholics, become so obsessed with alcohol (even in recovery) that we think it must be at the centre point of everyone else's focus too. However No one was bothered that I wasn't drinking for my 21st - no one thought it was weird or sad - they were all just happy I had a great day, which I did

Also I notice the drinking culture in New York is a littles less in your face than in London (Uk). Maybe I should consider moving there? (Haha in my dreams).

Anyway hope everyone is having a good day
