I think sometimes we know we are in a pot, but also fear "out of the pan into the fire", sometimes boiling slowly in the pot seems less scary than jumping into what we think is fire.
That's why we need people here to cheer us on..."come on frog..jump, you may get your toes scorched in fire, but then you will be over it and on your way to the pond"
