I know, because they have and are still coming true
for me, just like that man in the show.
It's amazing how deceiving the liquid devil can be. I thought that I had a hold on the drinking thing so many times. Yet, all of my returns to the bottle in time were followed by a still worse relapse. Thank God that on most of those occasions I once more would be able to crawl back into the rooms of AA.
Then I would hear those Promises read that I had heard so many times in the past. Thinking to myself, none of those are true to me today. Yet, in short time away from the bottle the Promises one by one came true once again.
Today I do not take my sobriety for granted as I did many times before. I have seen many who returned to the drink die in the AA Program. Many others who went back out were in prison before they knew it.
Even today that don't sound possible to me, But, I know just add a little booze here and in short time it's hard to tell what will happen.
