I've been through it - in Delaware - and because I had a clean record I was considered a 'First Time Offender'. I only paid a fine plus had to take a class & attend a certain number of AA meetings. License was suspended for 6 mos. I agree that it was harsh of them to put you in jail. I was allowed to have someone pick me up & my car was towed.
