Hey brain, yes, you can slice it thin. I boil it for about 10 minutes, then pour it through a strainer. I like mine strong, strong enough to burn my throat. I drink it just like that, but you could put a little raw sugar or honey in it or even a spot of cream if you were so inclined.
Ginger ale doesn't taste much like real ginger to me. A good strong ginger beer is delish though, especially if it has some pulp in it. Yum!
