SFMS, I know it is probably too soon. But, when you are ready, you may want to consider a beautifully written book called The Art of Racing in the Rain, by Garth Stein. It is written from the perspective of a dog whose last days are upon him. I read it in one sitting. It made me cry, but it helped me prepare for the inevitable loss of my beloved dog, Aspen.
