No - it just means you haven't figured out a way to stay sober 100% of the time. There is obviously something still out there that makes you pick up a drink, even if they are separated by months. If total sobriety is your goal, you need to find ways to achieve it. Maybe you need to work with a group locally. Maybe you have some underlying issues ( we all do ) that need to get worked out. Maybe you need to read a lot more here on SR. Or maybe a combination of those - or something else - but above all keep trying. If you truly WANT it you'll find a way to do it.

Absolutely not. I quit while I still hadn't "lost everything" and many others have too. Everyone has the ability to get sober no matter what point they are at in their drinking.
