a pm with your clean/sober start date. Please come back
if you slipped or relapsed.

Roster will be posted 18 Hours 36 min from now at 10 pm EST USA 4/2.

How do we start?

With all of the ups and downs in our lives, it is easy to get discouraged in early recovery.
Especially because we are starting to feel again.

We may slip and slide, stumble, come back and stumble again. It happens. Please
just keep coming back and stay honest.

One way to keep ourselves motivated is by remembering we are not alone and
we don't have to do this alone.

Getting clean and sober may seem like an impossible task to some. Yet there are millions
doing it all over the world through SR, AA, RR, Smart Recovery, counseling, you name it.

How do we start?

We start with a commitment. Today I will not drink or drug no matter what. Come hell or high
water I will reach out for help in SR or an AA meeting or call a friend before I pick up a drink
or drug. We put that drink or drug off hour by hour.

We take baby steps and those baby steps will add up to success.

We have to make realistic goals. For example, we can't expect after a couple months
of sobriety our lives to be perfect and our relationships be healed.

There may be consequences that we have to face up to.

There will be difficulties, setbacks, ups and downs, it may or may not take years to repair
past damage.

But we stop projecting, we stop predicting the future and we do what is in front of us. We
allow others to help us carry the load.

If you are new or coming back please look into all routes to recovery. Have an open
mind.

Don't reject something you know nothing about or have heard bad things about. Form
your very own opinion. The very thing you could be rejecting just might save your life.
Check it out for yourself and give it a chance.

The greatest form of ignorance is rejecting something we know absolutely nothing about.

Drinking and drugging was only a symptom of something deeper going on with our
thoughts and behaviors. If we do not address these ingrained thoughts and behaviors we
are in danger of relapsing and never making it back.

We have to have a plan?

If what you are doing is not working, what is holding you back from taking real action and
forming a plan? If we go after recovery with half the vigor we went after drugs and or
alcohol we stand a good chance.

If we could have thought ourselves clean and sober we wouldn't be here today. We can't
trust our thinking in early recovery. We need a plan. We need support. It is what will get
us unstuck!
