Wink Newbie Advise Please

Hello everyone, I have decided to post here because I have a problem with drinking, I have been drinking daily for several years now. I only drink well into the evening usually these days only have my first drink at 11:00 pm. I never ever touch a drop during the day and can even socialise without drinking. My problem is I tend to drink to help me to sleep. Two years ago I visited my GP who gave me a course of Diazepan for a month and over that month I kicked the habit and didn't touch a drop for a couple of months, but then thought I could just become a social drinker, it wasn't long before I was back to where I started. I feel it's becoming a bit of a problem again, I drink between 100ml - 200ml a night of whisky mixed with water (half &half ).

At the moment I feel that I really need to kick the habit again and with the support of my husband am going to attempt to slowly cut it out again by reducing the amount each evening.

The only side affects I seem to have are hot sweats during the night when I cut down, feel a bit anxious of side affects, I don't get the shakes or anything...may I ask if this is going to be safe method ? may I add again I never ever drink during the day, I wouldn't even thank you for one.


Progress:

Day 1. Wendsday 26th Feb: I cut right back to 100ml of whisky and to be quite honest had the night from hell. I couldn't sleep all night, drifted in and out of sleep. Had really bad hot sweats and felt terrible all day yesterday.

Day 2 Thursday 27th Feb: Again stuck to my chosen limit of 100ml, although I didn't sleep very well, I did sleep at times, but more importantly didn't have any hot sweats at all, thank goodness. Got up showered and feeling much better. Tonight will be my very last night of 100ml before I reduce again to 75ml...my goal is to kick the habit by the end of next week.

Last night day three Friday 28th Feb: Again stuck to my 100ml limit, had a reasonably good nights sleep, waking early hours but managed to get back to sleep. Thankfully still no hot sweats or any other problems. Woke feeling much better and able to get on with things. Tonight dropping to 75ml for three nights and continuing to drop until quit day.

My intention is to continue reducing until my quite date next Friday. Thank you for listening.
