(In Traditional AA style)
Hi. My name is David, and I am an alcoholic.
I started drinking when I was 17 years old. I am now 41.
Started hard and fast (Jack Daniels), tapered off to beer, then progressed to rum, and back to beer. Regardless of the flavor, I drink every single day. Literally.
I know it's because of my addiction, but I don't feel normal unless I drink. It's like a catch-22 right?
Two weeks ago I spent the weekend in jail. Pulled over for no seatbelt supposedly, but I was inebriated nonetheless. Not drunk but I shouldn't have been driving either way. So far my costs (including lawyer fees) have exceeded $2,000 and I am still going through the courts. May lose my license, company vehicle, fines, insurance will be cancelled, etc etc etc.
I quit drinking for THREE DAYS (two of those was in jail)...did I learn a lesson? Don't drink and drive....but keep on drinking.
That's my introduction. I'm here to seek a starting point in my life, to QUIT DRINKING.
Wish me luck.
David
