Update: hubby did just come home with a card and some heart shaped donuts after me practically being in tears this morning. While I suspect he got this stuff more out of fear than sentiment, beggars can't be choosers and I'll take what I can get.
ETA: I also ordered myself a new Coach purse in the meantime...
