At the very bottom left hand corner is a drop-down box. For chat, this needs to be set for "default" - chat will not work if you have it set to powder blue.
You also need to be registered for chat. If you have not already registered, you would do that by clicking the 'chat' link above, and when the new window opens for the chat room, click "register." It can take some time for a new registration to be activated, but if Chy is online, you can pm her, and see if she can expidite it.
