Without trying....
In sobriety, and without for one moment trying to sound sanctimonious...
I find that whilst I can now accept others and the world, for all it's faults and frailties, not least my own. Yet they cannot accept me...
Whilst I could more readily accept that, in my drinking days, spent filled with self loathing and low self esteem ...
Accepting that we're all individuals, and we don't have to like everybody...even in Buddhist philosophy, where those three great spiritual values, compassion, patience and tolerance are both practised and held in high regard...allows for 'fierce compassion' where others who disturb you by their actions or behaviour disturb you.
It seems to me , that the more people put the needs of others, before self...both the world and they , would be a better place.
