Yeah I was the same way for years. A functional Alcoholic and proud of it, I wore it like a badge of honor. Look at me, I can drink copious amounts of poison and not cause my own death. The dull ache you are getting is real and will continue and get worse as long as you keep drinking. It may take the same thing it took me to get fed up with it. I started trying to quit and found that I couldn't and it pissed me off so much that after two years of starting and stopping I finally said enough is enough.

Just don't wait too long, there is a point of no return for a lot of people. Don't let that be you.
