Good comments.
At 14 years sober, I got involved with a practicing alcoholic and stayed stuck in that nightmare for 6 years. (But he was so nice when he wasn't drinking) I managed to finally get out of it without losing my sobriety.
I can see now how I my codependent focus on him distracted me from my own issues.
