I'm New here and just started today

I'm new here and hoping to stop drinking altogether. I first started drinking heavily about 16 years ago. Began as a weekend thing, then ended up being a daily use. I've suffered with anxiety for years (off and on), and noticed that sometimes alcohol will and can make it worse. At one point, I was drinking up to 16 beers a day...over the past 1 1/2 years, I've tapered to about 8 beers a day. I usually do pretty good while I'm at work and it's about an 18 hour span between my drinking. I don't have any health insurance, so going to the doctor is not an option for me. I'm weening myself off of this stuff on a slow pace because I'm scared to death to go into convulsions or something. Anyway, I just thought that I'd introduce myself. I'm off work today, so this would be my dangerous day to try to keep my mind on anything else besides grabbing a beer. Any tips would be great. thanks
