We Help Each Other

I know not all of you are going the AA/NA route to
recovery but this is interesting and very true...

In The AA Big Book It Says....

“NOTHING WILL SO MUCH INSURE IMMUNITY FROM DRINKING as intensive work
with other alcoholics.” The book states clearly that intensive work with other
alcoholics is one of the most powerful tools to staying sober.

Insert addict in there as well.

It is how AA began in 1935, one alkie talking to another. 2 people.
They realized they could stay sober. Then NA branched off from there in 1953.

Bill W the founder of AA was often plagued by waves of self-pity and
resentment that almost drove him back to drink but he found that when
all other measures failed, work with another alcoholic would save the day.

Funny how that works.

I find when I encourage another alkie/addict that I get out of myself and the
last thing I want is to drink or drug .

I have hope and I want to give other people hope .

It is obvious that alkies and addicts understand each
other like no one else and that is why AA/NA
has produced many miracles and SR too.

It's hard to stay stuck in self pity when you are doing
service work or reaching out to another alkie/addict in love.
Or anyone for that matter.

We may not always have the answers but we can encourage
someone not to give up.

Encourage someone today, send them a private message. By doing so
you just may be insuring yourself another 24 hours clean and sober.

Also by reaching out to someone you may be just the thing that person
needed to get through the rest of their day.

It's one of the reasons this works. The therapeutic value of one alkie/addict
helping another.
