It is my understanding that the relationship recommendation applies to the recovering alcoholic's not starting a New relationship during the first year of sobriety.
I don't have the answers for what you should do about your present relationship status. I do have a question that helped me when I was trying to solve my relationship with my alcoholic- Do you have to solve this before 8 a.m.?
If no, then give yourself time to make a healthy decision for your future.
Alanon meetings helped me to clarify my thinking.
