Just so it eases your mind a little (maybe) my stepdad had pancreatitis. He was 50 and had been drinking heavily for over 30 years. He had it for months before he sought help, so please don't self diagnose and get yourself into a panic that you may die tonight.

He hasn't had a drink now for 11 years. Has never looked back. Still swears he never had a drink problem (!??) and just quit. I think the liquid morphine he had at home might have weaned him off some...

It was just after my Mum left him so I was constantly going round when he was drinking himself silly then going round so he didn't set fire to himself whilst smoking and nodding off on morphine. Tough times indeed. Anyway I digress...

My point is, please don't get yourself into a state of panic. Also, the nurse may not be advising cold turkey, but neither is she advising to drink yourself silly.

See them tomorrow then get checked out properly for your own peace of mind.
