One thing to note- at one point I told a white lie about why I wasnt drinking that night - and next time i hung out with that person they asked me again. I felt like it drew more attention to my discomfort......keep it simple like others have said. How about "I've given it up and I don't miss it!" Simple, true, and not overly contrived.
