Nobody pressured me to work the steps...My willingness to do them was the simple reason I wanted what the ones that did them had...I read the book...I was the type of alcoholic the book described...I wanted what those promises promised...And I put in the work to do them....What is the work?....Something I hadn't done in 35 years of drinking....Getting honest with myself and others....Freedom. Sure you can go just for the Fellowship....I heard that described in a meeting once as....Going to a carnival and watching everyone else on the rides. I'm enjoying the ride.
