Thanks for your reply and encouragement. I have just been in contact with my mum and told her that I have things to tell her which she's going to hate and have sent her a copy of what I wrote in my first post.
It feels like I've achieved something I didn't think possible even a few days ago and I just hope she is able to understand that I am more sorry than I can possibly explain and that I'm ready for change.
