I lived with a binge drinker. Though the drinking episodes were not all the time, I walked on eggshells all the time worried about it.
I was in a panic whenever he went out. He (as was mine) is an adult and could make his own decisions and nothing I did when he drank made a difference.
I was not physically abused, but the emotional abuse when he drank was significant. He drank so much he could not remember it the next morning so he did not believe it.
