We bumped into one of RABF's old drinking buddies tonight (RABF is 5-months sober) at a restaurant. They hadn't seen each other in a long time. Nor has RABF seen their main friend in commmon (a drunk who I find to be a total jerk, but they've known each other forever) in months.
Friend: Really, you haven't seen L*
RABF: No, not for several months.
Friend: Man, did you stop drinking?
RABF: Yes. I was getting out of control. It was time . I'm XXX days sober.
Friend: Yeah, DWIs will do that to you.
RABF: It was not that. I just decided to stop.
Friend: (After doing a double-take) Well then, good for you!
Yes, good for him!
