It actually may be an unreasonable demand of him right now. Doesn't mean it always will be that way, but for right now, I think he's shown you that what he has to offer
is all he has to offer.
Early sobriety is tough. Especially since it sounds as if he doesn't have much support from fellow alcoholics to lean on. Have patience. More to be revealed.
