I assume you have tried to quit a few times before... how did that work out?
I got sober and have stayed sober in the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous, I couldn't do it alone.
You will find that the degree that your wife helps or understands really isn't that important.
You have the problem and it will continue to get worse unless it's treated. I treat mine with a daily dose of AA.
