I tried. I failed. I succeeded. I didn't join AA, but I did keep adding, trying new tools, new ideas, as Dee suggests. AVRT has been useful to me. Some very cool discussions about that on the secular connections forums. Epictetus and Marcus Aurelius gave me a boost, too, but strangely enough there are no forums for that here...
My point is to keep trying new combinations—I don't doubt for a second that you're an alcoholic, or that you can get yourself clear of it.
