Now - we are thinking that I might just have a case of gall stones. Another possibility is that connective tissue in my ribcage is causing some pain.

I have a gall stone test set up for a couple weeks, and I have started seeing a chiropractor to deal with some spinal pain issues. Hopefully one of these two things will clear up any uncertainty.
