Recently I've noticed a growing backlash against "cookie cutter, one size fits all, 12-step based" substance abuse treatment modalities. These treatments just don't take into account all of the personal, relational, mental-health and societal ramifications and variables affecting addicts. Therefore, they have a low success rate and high drop out rate. The system is broken, and it's heartening for me to see TPTB noticing and working slowly to change that.
