Good job, James18! For now, "Oh I can't... I'm... ummmm... [mumbled excuse] that evening..." will suffice. Take what you can get, the bottom line is you didn't go. It's a step in the right direction. I quit many, many times. Maybe you'll do better than I did. But don't be ashamed if you break down once in a while. You're human, and you're attempting a daunting- but very attainable- task. Just don't give up.
And come back for some cheer leading and/or attitude adjustments.
