Starting off slow with the working out is a great idea to "generate some energy"

I knew I tended to be a little compulsive (go figure, huh !?!) about the rate I'd be losing weight. So I promised myself not to get on a scale for 90 days.

Started off riding a bike for 20 minutes a day; .....as hard as I could, (which wasn't very) Gradually able to slowly increase the mileage over several months.

Lost more than I'd imagined that first 90, so keep the "only weigh every 90 days or so" thing going after 17 months sober.

After reading "sugar blues", ....it gave me enough reasons never to touch sucrose. Since all the booze I drank was/is sucrose based (speedy fermentation, and all) ........keeping that stuff as far away from my body seems to work.

I really hope you'll be able to sort out what's the best foods for you and your family.

You've got a hell of a headstart with your successful sobriety !!

Congrats
