I'm sure many will back me up here, but if you cannot afford rehab, it is possible to quit without it, and it can often be just as effective. This is an Al-Anon board, so most people will probably recommend AA, which, aside from buying the literature, is free. SMART Recovery is also free, and the method I used can be learned from a book, copies of which are often available for free at the public library, and you can pick up a used copy on Amazon for under $6 shipped. They key is to not put things off unnecessarily, because they usually never get better, only worse, if you delay. As wellwisher suggested, hopping on over to the Alcoholism or Newcomers forums would not be a bad idea.
