IMO most religions also put God in a box. I had God in box when I first started recovery but I guess the box was not big enough to keep me sober. I had to take God out of the box and let him morph into whatever he wanted to.
Today I have a God who would get me kicked out of most religions. My new God is a shape-shifter who changes form every time I get close to understanding him.
