Guess I've got to take a few steps backwards myself once in awhile, eh?
Last year, in order to have the grandkids come to our little family get-together at a nearby city, AD and her EXBF came along because the grandkids were at her house for the holiday.
It was a disaster. She was loud and embarrassing. I have no words to describe the EXBF.
When we all went to Walmart for a bit of shopping after the movie, apparently she had a hey day shoplifting while I was in another part of the store. I know this because she tried to give my 22-year-old an eyeliner pencil as we were walking out to my car, and told her she had lifted it. She's done jail time twice already for shoplifting.
I figured if she had both grandkids this year (Johnathan lives with his dad/stepmom), she'd be contacting me and wanting to go along again.
Dad emails me yesterday from work and asks me to find out if the grandkids could come again.
Now here's where I must have had a temporary lapse of sanity. I should have contacted their stepmom first to find out where the grandkids were going to be.
Instead I texted my AD asking what was going on for Thanksgiving.
She texts back that my grandkids will both be with their dad/stepmom, and she's doing nothing.
Ugh.
There's still that part of me that loves her, but it was such a fiasco last year, and the grandkids won't be able to come this year.
I've already texted her. So I felt guilty about not inviting her along.
Ugh.
This puts me on the road an additional 3 hours besides what I am already driving because she lives 35 miles south of me, and we have to drive right back through where I live and head north.
It's end of semester crunch for me.
Ugh.
What's done is done. I'll make the best of it. I won't be able to go to Walmart for a few things that I need due to her sticky fingers, so I'll probably do that over the weekend.
Of course Amber is bringing the ABF too so it will be dysfunction junction.
I'm going to enjoy my meal, enjoy the movie, get AD delivered back to her place, come home, and be glad it's over for this year!
