This is one of my favorite quotes from the Big Book. It struck a nerve with me the first time I read it because it explained why, when I spent most of my time trying to discredit God while demanding proof of His existence, when the crap hit the fan, I'd always ask God to "just get me out of this one and I'll lnever drink again." As I look back now, I remember how lousy I felt when I was trying to defend my way of life, knowing it was wrong. It's only been the past four years or so since I went back to church and "surrendered" again, that I've felt perfectly at peace and in real communion with my Higher Power God. I gave up doubting and today, I just believe. I find it really hard to believe that there's any human being who totally, without any hesitation at all can say honestly that he doesn't believe in the existance of God....even a little bit.
