Several weeks ago I stumbled upon the SR forum while searching for movies about recovery/addiction. SO glad I did!

Many of the movies suggested in this thread are sitting in my queue now with Netflix.

I watched "The Panic in Needle Park" a couple of days ago. Of the movies I've watched so far, this has got to be my favorite. It's old (1971), but so am I. The acting of a young Al Pacino is a sight to behold and the female lead was also amazing. This was a powerful movie that depicts the progression of addiction so well. (those eyedropper syringes were carzy!)

Movies I've seen so far with my star ratings (my opinion based on what I'm looking for in an addiction/recovery movie):

My Name is Bill W (*****)
The Panic in Needle Park (*****)
Clean and Sober (****)
28 Days (****)
When a Man Loves a Woman (***)
I'm Dancing as Fast as I Can (**)
Postcards From the Edge (**)
The Basketball Diaries (**)
Wasted (*)

Today, "Never Get Outta The Boat" is arriving. Will watch tonight.

THANK YOU for this thread....it's timeless.
