Hey, none of us set out to become alcoholics. It wasn't on MY agenda, that's for sure.
I haven't encountered one situation yet, where I felt seriously deprived because I couldn't drink. I accept that I can't control my drinking in a way that makes it safe for me to drink. It's pretty much a non-issue so far as my enjoyment of life goes.
