I think you are much stronger than you are giving yourself credit for. There are always steps you can take to avoid drinking situations and it's usually a good idea if you do. But you did prove that you could handle your brother drinking in front of you, even though it was pretty uncomfortable. Change what you can and maybe going to AA and getting a sponsor and working the steps will help make it a bit easier when those times pop up that you can't control.
