My drinking career started at an "induction" ceremony at the age of 17. My legal peers told me to stand on a bar stool and down a quart of beer in 10 seconds. I was a willing "inductee" and enjoyed the taste of beer so much I drank beer every night for a couple of decades. I think I was an alcoholic even before I started drinking. My ability to stand on bar stools deteriorated in time.
