Dear Mike,
Just sending you some words of support to let you know that you are not alone in this and many of us identify with what you say. I crossed the line in February, after abusing alcohol for the last 20 years, and will be 60 days sober on Thursday please God! Being Irish I understand the cultural pressures we have - at home in Ireland (now living in Brussels) everything revolves around the pub! Will be heading home in May for a couple of family events and will be my first 'alcohol free' ones.
I've also started going back to Mass since February which I have to say is giving me great strength and comfort - I went on a 3 day retreat in March and came back a much stronger person and feel I'm getting stronger day by day.
Take good care of yourself and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
