definitely a good post for this time of year, but we need always be wary of this type thing.
I was at a baby shower not too long ago, and there was said punch bowl, but I ( imagine that ) noticed their liquor cabinet on top of the fridge, so I asked my GF was it safe to drink the punch 1st. Thankfully in my case it was, but I know many more people who have been burnt by this same exact scenario you mention in your OP.
Also be wary of desserts made w/ liquor, I have been burnt by those in the past, and even though it's just a little bit of alcohol, it still triggers all kind of craziness in my head. And the phenomenon of craving is ever present after word, and all the other insanity that goes w/ it
