hello kira and welcome to sr! i live in the uk so our meeting structure is a little different,however i was in houston in the summer and attended 3 meetings while there,they were all different but basically the same if that makes sense! it is a room full of folk sharing their experiences ,strength and hope with one another so they can solve their common problem (alcohol) and help others to do the same.you will be made to feel welcome.somebody who has more experience with the meetings where you are will be along soon to offer more help! alot of folk when going to AA think its the worst thing (how did it come to this??? ) but it turns out to be the best,this has been my experience.listen as much as you can and look for similarities,not differences,and be open minded.i hope you get from AA what i and many many others have.i wish you well,keep us posted
