Thumbs up TOPIC: Belonging In Recovery

Hi Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.

By the grace of my HP and people
like you here in SR I havent found
it necessary to pick up a drink of
alcohol since 8-11-90.

And because of this program of AA
I have a family that I belong to and
don't feel alone any longer.
For all that I am truely grateful.

There is no more aloneness, with
that awful ache, so deep in the
heart of every alcoholic, that
nothing, before, could ever reach
it.

That ache is gone and never need
return again. . .

Now there is a sense of belonging. . .

In return for a bottle and a hangover,
we have been given the Keys of the
Kingdom or life.

I use to have that feeling of
loneliness and despair so often
in my life until I entered rehab

Drinking and trying to stop,
trying to control it all, I was
worn down. No one understood
me nor did i understand myself.

Entering recovery gave me hope.
It gave me a purpose in life. It
gave me a family and fellowship
amongst others just like me.

Those that have been there
done that exact same thing
as I to only fail each time.

I learned from you how to live
life one day at a time sharing
my experiences that I had with
drinking. Sharin my hopes of
recovery. Sharing my wisdom
to all those that follow in my
footsteps.

Continueing on with willingness,
openmindness and honesty in
all my affairs has given me that
happiness, joy, and most of all
freedom from the bondage of
self and drink.

Im grateful to belong to such an
awesome program of recovery.

Do you belong to something so
wonderful? Family, friends, recovery?
