I know i struggled with that - as a child with alcoholic father, as a wife with drug addicted husband, and again as a mom with drug addicted child. And i went to 12-step programs (Alateen, Alanon) with all three situations!
You are absolutely right when you say that those with strong recovery still struggle with that one from time to time................
